For a classroom application, there could be a creative twist to using it. The teacher could use the book to discuss what a foot measures out to be in mathematical terms. The teacher could let the students get into groups and see how many feet their feet put together equaled to be. This is one way of making a practical application to the math term, and making things a little more fun than simply stating a foot equals twelve inches. Then for any gifted students, the teacher could have them measure out to the exact inch instead of just stating the amount of feet.
