Foot Book (Hardcover) (Dr. Seuss)
This book by Dr. Suess is a fun poetry book about all kinds of feet. It really goes the extra length to bring out whatever kind of crazy feet anyone could think of. It is a repetitive poetry book that entertains all those who read it. The illustrations for this book are pencil sketch looking. They are all vibrant, colorful, and cartoonish. It is like the typical Dr. Suess book with crazy imagined ideas and creative characters. I love how unique the drawings are for this book!

Grade: 1st-3rd
Content Area: Mathematics

For a classroom application, there could be a creative twist to using it. The teacher could use the book to discuss what a foot measures out to be in mathematical terms. The teacher could let the students get into groups and see how many feet their feet put together equaled to be. This is one way of making a practical application to the math term, and making things a little more fun than simply stating a foot equals twelve inches. Then for any gifted students, the teacher could have them measure out to the exact inch instead of just stating the amount of feet.
